Sundance Film Festival 2013

The 2013 Sundance Film Festival kicked off yesterday. Every year N and I try to see at least a few films; it’s something we’ve done since we were dating.  Now it’s a fun way to spend some kid-free time together and as locals we get a decent deal on ticket packages. Attending the festival is usually one of the highlights of my year.

We prefer going to showings in Salt Lake City rather than making the drive to Park City. While we miss out on star-gawking and some Q&As I think we more than make up for it in ease of parking, plentiful places to grab a bite between showings, and the extra money we’d have to pay a sitter  🙂

This year we’re going to 8 films which I’ll try to post reviews about later.  We are seeing:

How about you? Are there any festivals where you live that you like to attend?

  1. I think my new year's resolution for 2013 is to attend a film festival for a few days, which I think might be a kind of lame resolution but seems to be the only thing I feel excited enough about to make happen. There are a surprising number in Colorado, and a few just an hour or so from my house. I might go to one over in Denver for like two days and then try to pick up a few shows at the closer festivals. Other than a few Sundance films I've never been to a film festival so I'm not sure how I got this bee in my bonnet.

  2. Gina, I think that sounds like a wonderful resolution! Nathan and I have fond memories of attending some of those early Sundance films with you and Nephi.

    Thanks for your comment 🙂

  3. You see famous people… ALL THE TIME! So fun. Did you catch any glimpses of stars? Shannon Hale counts! We actually have an Ashland Film Festival every Feb that I've always wondered about…maybe this will be my year to check it out. I usually save all my festivaling for the annual Ashland Chocolate Festival which is very worth it.
