Whole Foods Incident Update

Yesterday I sent an email to the store where this happened on Monday. This morning I received a nice email from the store manager Bryan apologizing for the way the employee handled the incident. He said that they “have procedures in place, for safety purposes, around cleaning up any type of bodily fluids. We also have other individuals in the store who can be called upon to assist in these types of situations.”

Bryan also said that they will talk to the employee I dealt with so she’s aware about how the situation could (and should) have been handled differently. He also offered to send me a giftcard for my inconvenience and time.

Phew! I feel so relieved. While the actual incident was stressful and humiliating, Bryan’s response cheered me up. Let’s face it, while it’s a bit of a drive for me, I like going to Whole Foods and now I feel better about returning there to shop.

Thanks, Bryan.

  1. I told my sister that story and she said she definitely would've told that employee, "um, sorry, I need to leave with my sick child"…and she would not have cleaned it up! Ha ha, but your way got you a gift card…maybe that's better. πŸ™‚ Way to go!

  2. I am glad that your email was rewarded with an apology and giftcard! I went to Whole Foods last night. It's like disneyland! and I am pretty sure that if your kid throws up at Disneyland they give you a hand!

  3. Glad to hear they handled it so nicely! And a gift card, too – not shabby at all. Maybe you can use it to buy that unhelpful employee a mop.

  4. Oh, I'm sorry this happened to you. What a way to make a bad situation worse! I'm thankful for you that the manager wrote you back. A good way to restore your faith in a store (oh my such a bad punn! and I hadn't even intended it)
